2018 Winter Events – Teen Dances
Mecklenburg County Homeschool Teens – Casual Dance
The Homeschool Gossip is hosting a Teen Dance in January. Area teens 14 and older (or Alumni) are invited to “It’s Not A Holiday” Sock Hop!
Friday, January 12 , 2018 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Huntersville Arts and Cultural Center
109 S. Old Statesville Road in Huntersville, NC 28078
Cost is $10.99 per guest.
Teens will enjoy a night of music, dancing, games, and light refreshments. Wear your craziest socks (casual dress) and bring a wrapped gift and a pair of socks to join in the fun with the “Re-gifting Gift Exchange Game”.
This is a “Drop-Off” Event. All attendees must check in on arrival. A chaperone will be outside checking people in. (chaperones are already assigned) The venue is only large enough to accommodate all the guests, but a map of nearby locations will be provided to help parents and siblings find activities if they want to remain in the area. Attendance by your children is conditional upon respectful behavior at the discretion of the hosts and parents will be notified of any disruptive behavior.
There are no outside food or drinks allowed in the facility to keep this is a “Nut-Free allergen” event.
Music played at this event are clean radio edited versions of the Top 100 Hits – no requests.

This formal dance is hosted by The Homeschool Gossip for Homeschoolers in 9th – 12th Grades and their guests.

Cost for this event is $35 per participant which includes: DJ, desserts, drinks and a link to online photos.

Dress Code: Dress Pants & Tie and Cocktail Dresses
Homeschool attendees may invite alumni and non-homeschool guests. This is a drop-off event so chaperones and security will be present. A photographer will be present during the event, but parents may come in to take pictures between 6:45 and 7:15 p.m. Proceeds from this dance will be donated.

Students 14 years and older should plan to come ready to dance to their heart’s content. The facility is a lovely setting with plenty of space for attendees to dance the night away!

Attendees & Guests: This event is for homeschool students aged 14 and older. Each homeschooled student may bring a guest. Guests are not required to be homeschooled, but they must be 14 or older.
This is an elegant formal evening: WNC Winter Formal Dress code is dressy and modest – no revealing neckline and dress length must be fingertip length or longer. Gentlemen should wear ties, dress pants, jacket etc. – no jeans.
Light refreshments will be provided by The Red Radish Catering Company.
This year the WNC Winter Formal Fundraiser will be hosted by the Black Mountain Children’s home, and 50% of profits will benefit the Home. The other 50% will be donated to NewCity Schools. This group has been donating the funds from their events to NewCity schools for over ten years!
Wake Forest Homeschoolers – Teen Dance
The Whimsical Winter Wonderland Teen Dance, sponsored by Wake Forest Homeschoolers, is a dance for middle school and high school-age homeschool kids and their friends. Please use your best judgment when deciding if your child is mature enough to be attending. Parents and guardians are welcome to attend free as chaperones.
The dance will be held at the Wake Forest Community House at 133 W. Owen Ave. in Wake Forest on January 26th from 7 – 10 p.m.
The cost for the dance is $12 per kid.
No payments will be accepted after January 23rd and if you have not paid for the dance before then, you will not be allowed to attend. Tickets are NOT allowed to be sold at the door. For liability reasons, please no reselling of tickets. If you have a change of plans, you may request a refund.
Please bring a snack to enjoy and share with others.
