Join in the special hands-on activities at the annual Homeschool Days for home educated families in August & September!
Meet in the Historic District at 900 Old Salem Road in Winston-Salem, North Carolina from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day.
Tour the historic district and learn what life was like in the Moravian congregation town of Salem. Each day there will be interactive activities, demonstrations and costumed interpretation.
Highlights
Enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of Winkler’s bakery. See the craftsman hard at work in the Single Brother’s House. Visit the newly renovated Doctor’s House and learn about Dr. Vierling and medical practices in the 18th & 19th centuries.
Learn how flax was processed and turned into linen that could be used to make clothing and other household items.
When you visit the St. Philip’s African-American complex, you will learn how to create a Kente weaving.
Try your hand at playing the game of nine pins!
Stop at the Miksch House and garden to see what is growing. Craft a blank book to take home and create a botanical watercolor, as students did long ago.
Registration Information
All homeschool families will receive the group tour rate of $11 per child (ages 4 through 18) and $23 per adult. Children under 4 are free.
